Over The Air Performance
RFI: We understand the challenges facing you in antenna integration.
Why is antenna performance important?
The integration of wireless communication modules into end products is now within reach for most design and manufacturing houses. The cost effectiveness and easy accessibility to the modular technology allows this to be considered for almost all products and applications, across all industries. The “Internet of Things” is expected to explode over the coming years.
The challenges for integration are really faced when regulatory and industry scheme conformance is sought and the antenna selection and its performance is a vital component in making that successful. Understanding how the antenna performance affects the device is important, understanding how to balance the antenna performance to achieve compliance is critical to market deployment.
How RFI can help
At RFI we are the leading international provider of compliance, wireless product approval and testing services. We fully understand the issues facing you as the manufacturer, and can apply our expertise and experience in over the air performance testing to ease the compliance process. Due to radio technology migrating into previously uncharted territories, such as the automotive, medical and industrial sectors, many approvals engineers are facing the issue of global Radio approvals for the first time. We have added Over The Air performance to our radio service portfolio in order to offer maximum support to our customers, from design concept to placing the product on the market.
Over the air performance services
Utilising a Satimo SG24 system, RFI is able to perform, Total Radiated Power (TRP), Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS), Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) and Effective Isotropic Sensitivity (EIS) measurements and can produce 1, 2 and 3 Dimensional radiation pattern outputs for end products utilizing the following popular “active” wireless technologies:
• GSM
• GPRS / EGPRS
•CDMA 2000
• WCDMA
• HSPA
•GPS / AGPS
Coming soon will be the addition of WiFi and Long Term Evolution (LTE) - as suitable measurement methodologies are agreed and standardized.
In addition, RFI is also able to support “passive” measurements for devices transmitting between 700 MHz to 7 GHz.
Our many accreditations, third-party recognitions and appointments ensure our customers gain fast access to European, North American and other key markets. For OTA these will include:
• Accreditation by CTIA for CTIA Test Plan for Mobile Station Over the Air Performance 2.2.2
• Accreditation by CTIA for CTIA Test Plan for Mobile Station Over the Air Performance 3.1
• Accreditation to ISO 17025 by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)
• Accreditation to GCF – 3GPP 34.114
